Encaustic refers to the use of beeswax and resin fused to the photographic image on a hard substrate. In The Forgotten series, the image is printed on canvas and affixed to a backing board and stretched to form the finished 16 x 24 inch piece. The Village series features translucent figures with encaustic on Belgium linen 16 x 20 inches. The encaustic surface can be smooth or dramatically scratched and riddled with texture. The wax always contributing dimension and sensual depth to the work.
